The current president and administration are threatening to sacrifice the school's institutional autonomy and have lost the trust of the greater Hampshire community.
The stakes are high: not only are there millions of dollars in material value in the physical plant of Hampshire College and its 800 acres of property in Amherst and Hadley, Massachusetts, but there is untold cultural worth at stake as an educational system which has produced a half-century of Fulbright scholars, entrepreneurs, artists, dedicated activists, and global citizens who make and have made a positive difference in today's troubling times finds itself inexplicably on the brink of extinction.
Unfortunately, many do not feel safe making their side of the story known.
